Pnei Yitzchak Responsa by Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of the Vitebsk, with the approbation of the Admor of the Maharash - first edition.
Pnei Yitzchak responsa by Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of the Vitebsk. Part One. Vilna [1909].
Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of the Vitebsk (1868-1867) was one of the first and most prominent Hasidim of the Alter Rebbe, and later was associated with the middle Rebbe and Tzemach Tzedek. He served in the rabbinate for seventy-five years, in the town of Ostrovna and later in Vitebsk, and lasted nearly a century. After the departure of the old Rebbe, he called his son, the middle Rebbe, and after his departure, he was among a delegation of great Hasidim who decided to accept the Tzemach Tzedek as a follower and persuaded him to accept the presidency. He was ordained to the rabbinate by the Admor Maharash.
Approbations from him appeared on the books of the Alter Rebbe, the Shulchan Aruch (Zitomir expenses). The Admor Maharash also liked him very much and on a certain occasion, in the month of Cheshvan 1840, approached him with a halakhic question.
Ever since he was a child, the Admor Maharash approached Rebbe Yitzchak Isaac and spent many hours with him every time he came to Lubavitch to hear stories from him. For twenty and three years, 1823-1866, he heard many stories from him. The Admor of the Maharash said that Rabbi Isaac Isaac had a wondrous memory, and he would describe events that occurred eighty or eighty-five years earlier, with precision in their precise details, such as the names of the people and the places.
Very good condition, rubbing to cover.
