Belt Case for Carrying Rifle Pellets. England, 19th Century.
Case for carrying rifle pellets designated for attachment to trouser belt, England, 19th century. Cast brass.
Cases of this type were placed on nobles' trousers when they went out to battle or to hunt, and were used for placement of round rifle pellets.
Leaf decorations on the front and the walls, flowers and rocaille. The lid opens using two hinges. The back has a slot for insertion of the trouser belt.
Rare item from a private collection.
