Impressive Mizrach - hand-painted printed leaf, Alsace, 19th century.
Pictures describing biblical scenes in the center of the leaf: in the middle, Jeremiah lamenting the destruction on a backdrop of the ruins of Jerusalem, angels at right and left. Columns on the right and left. The right column is with a scene of the striking of the rock and the wisdom of Solomon. The left column shows the binding of Isaac and the blessings of Jacob. The form of the Tablet of the Covenant with figures of angels on the right and left is at the top of the leaf, with the verse 'ושכנתי בתוך בני ישראל' ['I will dwell among the children of Israel'].
34x25 cm. Placed in a wood and glass frame 42x33 cm. Creases and slight tears in the margins. Moderate-fine condition.
