23 photographs recording the Turkish army in Palestine during World War I, by photographers of the "American Colony" photography department in Jerusalem, [ca. 1914-1918].
Sharp and professional photographs, depicting, among others, Anwar Pasha and Jamal Pasha, survey of battalions by Jamal Pasha, the first train to Beersheba, handing a flag to an excelling battalion in the battle of Gaza, Cavalry forces, Turkish Camel battalion in Beersheba, soldiers in trenches, field kitchen, military sewing workshop, workshop for military shoes, defectors executed by hanging, British canons on Mount Scopus, and more.
Each photograph is mounted on a Bristol sheet with a handwritten title (later Bristol sheets and titles).
Photographs: 11.5X16.5 cm, sheets: 17.5X24 cm. Good condition. Slight stains and defects to photographs (slight creases, traces of pasting and pencil inscriptions). Slight defects (stains and creases) to sheets.
