Signed certificate dated 1870, confirming the rights to a seat in the Great Synagogue of Pressburg. Written on synagogue stationary, and signed by the Ksav Sofer in German as “A. S. Schreiber”.
R. Avrohom Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (1815-1872) was the eldest son of the Chasam Sofer. He was a disciple of his father and of R. Mordechai Ephraim Fischel Sofer. Following the passing of the Chasam Sofer in 1839 he was appointed as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva of Pressburg. Under his leadership the Kehilla of Pressburg in general, as well as the Yeshiva continued to be great bastions of Torah. Many of the next generation of rabbinical leaders were amongst his students, and his novella (published posthumously) were received with great acclaim.
