Sermon for Shabbos Ha’Gadol handwritten by R. Yirmiya Lowey.
R. Yirmiya Lowey (1811-1874) was a son of R. Binyamin Wolf Lowey of Verbau (Sharei Torah). He served as Rav in Verbau and Ujhel and was one of the leaders of Hungarian Jewry. He also authored Divrei Yirmiyahu on the Rambam and other works. He is quoted in the responsa Chasam Sofer Choshen Mishpat Siman 203. This discourse, which opens with the header “Discourse that I delivered on Shabbos Ha’Gadol in 5630 in Ujhel”, was likely never printed.
