Tzemach David - Hebrew-Aramaic Dictionary - Latin and Italian Commentary - Venice 1587 - Single Edition!
Tzemach David, a Hebrew-Aramaic lexicon, with Latin and Italian commentaries. By Rabbi David Min Ha'Tapuchim "a physician of Spoleto". Venice 1587. Single edition.
The book is written in four languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, Latin and Italian.
On the title page, it is written of the author: "the old exalted David a physician and philosopher of the city of Spoleto. Surely he is from the tribe of Yehuda of the Tapuchim family the first of the four distinguished households which Titus had exiled from Jerusalem to the praised city of Rome". The title page also states that the author presents all the roots and words found in Sefer Ha'Aruch (rabbi Natan of Rome) and Shorashim (Rabbi Davif Kimchi), Sefer Ha'Meturgeman and Ha'Tishbi (Rabbi Eliyahu Ashkenazi Bachur).
At the beginning of the book, the author's Latin dedication to the Pope Sixtus V and Latin, Hebrew and Italian prefaces. The fascinating Hebrew preface contains a short biography of the author and his family.
The lexicon is alphabetically ordered (Hebrew alphabet), in two columns: the right one with Hebrew words the left one with foreign words.
From leaf 237 and onwards: an index of abbreviations. The year written on the colophon is 1586.
