Rabbi Yosef Dov HaLevi Soloveitchik from Boston (1908-1993), grandson of HaGaon HaRav Haim of Brisk, led the rabbinate in a number of cities in the United States; after the death of his father he headed Yeshivat Rabbi Yitzhak Elhanan “Yeshiva University” in the United States with the support of the Admor of Chabad, from his letters and lessons many books of halacha and on aggadot were published, he led the Modern Orthodox movement in the United States, but was spiritually close with the yeshiva world.
