On the title page: section two of Nachlat Shiva with responsa. First edition of the responsa. The title page and fourth leaf feature the owner signature of רבי דוד סערעד. Rabbi Yisrael Dovid Yaffe Margoliot Schlezinger was the noted rabbi of פעזינג. He was born in Sered in [1802] and learned by the Chatam Sofer who called him 'my exalted senior disciple' and wrote many responsa to him. He was the rabbi and dayan of פעזינג for over thirty years. He died in 1864. He authored a number of works including "Mecholot HaMachanayim" and "Har Tavor" opposing the reformers who wanted to move the location of the bima in the synagogue – a practice he vigorously combatted. Refer to the Chatam Sofer V'Talmidav p. 281-283. These signatures were from his younger years in Sered.
Owner stamps: משה בהרהגה"צ מו"ה קארפיל זצ"ל רייך אב"ד דק"ק מעדיאש יע"א והגליל. Rabbi Moshe Reich, the son of Rabbi Koppel Reich of Budapest, was the Rabbi of Medias. Along with stamps of his son, Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Reich who succeeded him as Rabbi of Medias [Refer to HaChatam Sofer V'Talmidav p. 601]. Additional stamps.

Old binding. Tears in the first leaves. Aging stains. Moderate condition.
