A Scribe's Inkwell of the Sage Yosef Hanem, Damascus. 19th Century
A Damascus inkwell used by the sage Yosef Hanem. Silver inlaid in copper-brass.
In silver letters on the side is written: "Belongs to the sage" on one side. And on the other side "Yosef Hanem". Attached to a glass of ink attached to a hinge. Various decorations on the top and bottom. The surname "Naem" was a typical name in the Jewish communities of Damascus and Aleppo.
Remnants of wax. Stains.
