Storehouse - Carmel Mizrachi. A price list ofor cognac, arak and liqueur from the fine, renowned Rishon L'Zion vineyards which are known to have healing properties. Under supervision of the Rabbi of Jaffa and the agricultural settlements. Elazar M. Goldberg printing press, Jerusalem. Early 20th century.
An illustrated title page with a picture of 'a gold medal'. On the page after the title page is a list of 'certificates of the expert professors'. On the back binding is a list of 'Our stock throughout the world'. On the inner page is a list of the types of wines produced by the company and their prices.
The name 'Carmel Mizrachi' vineyards was given to the company in 1902. [The company was established in 1882 by residents of the Rishon L'Zion and Zichron Yaakov settlements]. The company was supported by Baron Edmund de Rothschild in its early years, and at its height even exported wines abroad ["Carmel Warsaw", "Carmel Odessa" and others]. The vineyard was a place of employment for many laborers from the members of the first and second waves of immigration, including David Ben Gurion. The company underwent changes and upheavals over the years and still exists to this very day.
