Placard appealing for aid for "Our depressed brethren living in Russia" who are in danger "of destruction," signed by rabbis, c. 1920s.

"The terrible situation of our depressed brethren living in Russia, who face terribly frightening physical and spiritual troubles, and every day the horrible troubles and persecutions are renewed. Tens of thousands of our brethren waste away from hunger and lack of bread, and the persecution targets everything sacred to Israel, persecution of religion and Judaism increases until they are in danger of being killed for their beliefs, and the last trouble was the expulsion..." 1920s.

This placard bears dozens of printed rabbinical signatures and appeals for aid for Russian Jewry who are suffering from the terrible spiritual and physical persecutions. The poster addresses the nations of the world and anyone who can be of assistance: "May our voice also stir the hearts of anybody whose spark of humanity has not yet been exinguished in his heart. In every nation and state to be shocked into action to protest the cruelty and depravity that is being done in Russia..."

The second section features dozens of printed rabbinical signatures, including: Rabbi Kook [who apparently initiated the appeal], Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, Rabbi Avraham Elyashiv, Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlop, Rabb Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank and other rabbinical signatures. At the press of Weingarten Ruchama Jerusalem.
