An extremely rare book!
An impressive book. Interesting engravings, including one of the duke's portrait. The Hebrew text is vowelized. Thick, high-quality leaves.
The book contains a long poem with many verses in honor of Duke Francisco the Third, the Duke of Modena, his wife and son, heir to the throne, on the occasion of his return from battle.
The author, Rabbi Yisrael Binyamin Bassan replaced his father as the rabbi of Reggio Emilia (since 1740). He was an outstanding Jewish-Italian poet. He was a disciple of the Ramchal (who studied with Rabbi Yehoshua Bassan) and studied Kabbala with him. Authored, among others, a commentary on his father's book 'Todat Shelamim' titled 'Perurei Lechem'.
