Shtei Yadon – Commentary on the Torah by Rabbi Avraham Chizkuni – the Copy of Rabbi Raphael Vermesser, the Leader of the Elsass Community – with a Handwritten Poem by Him about Peace between Countries
Shtei Yadot on the Torah by the kabbalist Rabbi Avraham Chizkuni. Amsterdam 1726. Single edition. Prepared for printing by his son Rabbi Ya'akov Chizkuni.
On the title page of the book, the handwritten signature of Rabbi Raphael Vermesser (1795-1875), who was one of the most prominent rabbis of France and Elsass. See attached material.
Inside the book, a leaf which is part of a poem – a poem about peace – the leaf is cut. It is most likely that the poem was written by Rabbi Vermesser (who wrote a poem praising the book "Orach Meisharim").
Another leaf is added to the book with a prayer for "the woman becoming pregnant easily".
