R. Avrohom Yeshaya Karelitz (1879-1954) was son of R. Shmaryahu Yosef Karelitz, Rav of Kosovo. Although he sought anonymity, turning down rabbinical positions and even publishing his seforim anonymously, he was recognized as the greatest Torah leader of his generation. During his years in Eretz Yisroel (1935-1954) thousands would flock to him with their concerns.
