R. Doniel Prostitz (1759-1846) was a disciple of R. Meir Barabi of Pressburg. He was Dayan in Pressburg during the rabbinical tenure of R. Meshulam Igrah and later under the Chasam Sofer. Following the passing of the Rosh Beth Din of Pressburg, R. Mordechai Tosk in 1837, he was appointed Rosh Beth Din. He was a confidante and chavrusa of the Chasam Sofer, and was extremely highly regarded. He is buried in close proximity to the Chasam Sofer, and his grave is visited by hundreds yearly. Author of sefer Machne Don.
