Discovery! Beis Hillel, Yoreh Deah and Even HaEzer, by Rabbi Hillel ben Rabbi Naftali Hirtz. Dhyrenfurth, [1691]. First edition. Rare. With a leaf handwritten by Rabbi Yitzchak Landau Segal Av Beis Din of Krakow, the uncle of the Nodah BiYehuda.
His signature and innovations handwritten by Rabbi Yitzchak Landau Segal on Sefer Beis Hillel, on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah and Even haEzer [with the text], by Rabbi Hillel Naftali Hirtz. The press of Shabtai Meshorer [Bass] author of Sefer Siftei Chachamim on Rashi's commentary on the Torah, Dgyrenfurth, [1691]. First and rare edition.
3-134, 49 leaves, 20 cm. [3] leaves are missing at the beginning of the Sefer including the title page, approbation by the rabbis of Poland, foreword by the author's son, "Divrei HaMechokek" and "The proofreader's apology". With the handwritten signature of Rabbi Yitzchak Landau Segal and at its end a leaf with [16] lines of innovations handwritten by him.
Rabbi Hillel ben Rabbi Naftali Hirtz (1615-1691) a disciple of his uncle Rabbi Heshil of Krakow. One of the Sages of Vilna, a disciple and member of the Beis Din of Rabbi Moshe Lima the author of the Chelkas Mechokek with Rabbi Shmuel Koidanover the author of the Birkas Zevach. Moved to serve as Rav in Hamburg and was replaced as a member of the Beis Din of Vilna by Rabbi Shabtai Cohen - the Shach.
Rabbi Yitzchak Landau Segal (1688-1767) one of the leading rabbis of his generation whom the Gaon Rabbi Yonosn Eibeschutz said of him that he was "the first among the firsts of the timeless Geonim whom no one exceeds" (in Sefer Luchos HaEdus). Served as Rav in Opatow. In 1729 was appointed Av Beis Din of Zholkva and in 1734 Av Beis Din of the vicinity of Lvov. Since 1754 until his passing served as Av Beis Din and Ram of Krakow.
[3] leaves missing at the beginning of Volume I, renewed binding partly dismantled, stains, moth holes, blemish and gluing to the last leaf, fair-good condition.
