A Mussar book by Rabbi Ya'akov Efrayim Avraham Chassid. Written in 1690. Hebrew and Yiddish.
On the title page, signature of Rabbi Alter Asher Anshil Rivlin, one of the activists of Hebron (an additional signature at the beginning of the book). Stamp of his father Rabbi Avraham Dobver Rivlin, a Chabad Chassid. Signature: "Moshe Rechtam", a member of the Old Yishuv of Jerusalem.
On the Forsazt leaves, an inscription: "a gift from Nechemya son of the Rebbe Shalita to …" the handwriting is identical to that of Rabbi Nechemya Alter.
Rabbi Nechemya Alter (1875-1942, died in the Holocaust), the son of the Rebbe of Gur author of "Siftei Emet" and brother of the Rebbe author of the "Imrei Emet". Father-in-law of the Rebbe author of "Lev Simcha".
Was known as a Torah and Kabbala genius. After World War I, he left the city of Gur and settled in Otwock. In 1925, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and settled in Safed. In 1927, he moved to Jerusalem where he served as head of the "Sefat Emet" Yeshiva. In 1931, he returned to Poland and served as a member of "Va'ad Ha'Rabbanim" of Lodz.
He was smuggled out of the Lodz Ghetto to the Warsaw Ghetto. Died in the Holocaust as most of his descendants, except for his eldest daughter, the Rebbetzen Yutah Henya [the mother of the Rebbe of Gur].
Remnants of his teachings were printed in the book "Chidushei Rabbi Nechemya" (Jerusalem, 1983).
