Siddur Rabbi Asher Margaliyot the Disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov - Sephard Version - Lvov, 1787 - Ha'Mekubbalim Kedoshei Elyon Printing Press- First Edition
Seder Tefilah with kavanat Ha'Ari. Two sections in one volume: for the days of the week and for Sabbath. "Siddur Rabbi Asher" with completions and corrections edited by the kabbalist Rabbi Asher Margaliyot of Brad and Mezhiboz, the disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov. Lvov, 1787. Rabbi Shlomo Yarush Rappaport (Ginzei Yisrael 219). Stefansky Chassidut no. 414.
Rabbi Asher Margaliyot was a member of the group surrounding Rabbi Yisrael Ba'al Shem Tov and one of the leading Torah scholars of the well-known Kloiz of Brad.
The siddur was printed in Lvov in 1787, in the printing press of Rabbi Shlomo. As known, the employees of that printing press were lofty holy men, among the 36 concealed Tzaddikim of that generation. The books printed by this printing house are considered a Segulah. This printing house Yarush printed the first edition of Noam Elimelech. It should be noted that the tiny "stars" which the above "Noam Elimelech" is known for appear also in the Siddur before us.
The copy before us belonged to Rabbi Asher Zelig Margaliyot, one of the kabbalah geniuses of Jerusalem. His signature and stamp (slightly erased) at the beginning of the book. One of the leaves there is short scholarly-kabbalist gloss, most likely in his handwriting.
This Siddur is named after its editor "Siddur Rabbi Asher" and it constitutes a reliable source for the kabbalist doctrine of the disciples of the Ba'al Shem Tov and other contemporary kabbalists. The members of the Chevraya Kadisha of the Ba'al Shem Tov used this Siddur.
An important and extremely rare Siddur!
A lacking copy: the title page was completed by photocopy. The first three leaves of the approbations and preface by the editor Rabbi Asher Margaliyot are missing. The copy begins on leaf 4. The section of the Sabbath prayers begins on the leaf of "Kavanat Erev Shabbt" - the title page and four additional leaves of "Kavanot Kolelot" are missing.
18 cm.
Condition: Good. Original ancient binding, slightly loose. Prominent stains and small tears on several leaves.
