Seven handwritten notebooks. Tunis, the 19th century, unidentified author. To the best of our knowledge, th enovellae has never been printed. Novellae on the tractates of the Shas.
Discovery!
Author's autograph!
The content of the novellae indicates that the author was a Torah genius, undoubtedly, one of the greatest rabbis of Tunis.
Orderly, aligned script. Impressive manuscript. The size of all the leaves is 20 cm. they are written on both their sides, full pages.
A. Shita Aruka on the Baba Kama tractate, novellae and commentary on the Talmud, Rashi and Tosfot, combined with the methods of the Rishonim and Achronim on the Shas.
On the margins of many pages, additions of novellae. The page is sometimes written horizontally and sometimes vertically.
On leaf 185, an inscription in different, later script: "up to this point from the writing of my father and teacher the author. From here onwards I, Chaim his son, am copying what I have found in a manuscript by my father and teacher in Mahadura Kama and has still not copied them here". It is most likely that the author's son had eventually not copied the manuscript and the page and the leaves after it remained empty.
185, [8] leaves. The pages were numbered by the author at the corners of the pages. [8] last leaves are "omissions from Masechet Kama" in the author's handwriting, except for one page which is in the handwriting of the author's son.

B. Shita on the Sanhedrin tractate
33 leaves. In addition 5 separate leaves of novellae on the Baba Batra and Horayoy tractates.
On leaf 32, a line is drawn on one of the passages and beside it the author wrote: "I have erased this since the Tosfot as well as the Ritva and Haran have already noted it".

C. Shita on the Bechorot tractate.
[18] leaves.

D. Novellae on the Nedarim tractate.
43 leaves.
The notebook is written with two pens and in two sizes of script by the same writer.
On leaf 20 (in the smaller writing) the author writes: "and see our novellae above … which I have written on the Yerushalmi".

E. Novellae on the Avodah Zara tractate.
11 leaves.

F. A Volume that contains novellae on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah and Even Ha'Ezer, novellae on the Ketubot, Gittin, Shvu'ot tractates and novellae on Maimonides' Ha'Yad Ha'Chazaka.
The pen changes between the leaves. It is mostly likely that the writer wrote the novellae in different periods. Many erasures and additions. Comments on the margins and between the lines.
On leaf 108, the author writes: "I have heard from R.A. Ha'Cohen" - maybe he is referring to Rabbi Avraham Ha'Cohen Yitzchaki author of "Mishmarot Kehuna" or Rabbi Avraham Ha'Cohen author of "Avraham Yagel".
