The Baba Metziah tractate. Romm printing press. Vilnius, the 1840's.
On the first leaf of the copy, leaf 3, the stamps of the Rebbe of Alexander Rabbi Yitzchak Menachem Danziger.
Added is a leaf of inscriptions: "Belongs to the house of the Hassidim of Alexander … this Talmud belongs to the Hassidim, the disciples of our Rebbe of Alexander Shalita…"
The Rebbe Rabbi Yitzchak Menachem Danziger of Alexander (1880-1942), was one of the most prominent Rebbes of his generation and one of the leaders of the Polish Jewry. In 1924 he became Rebbe. He had thousands of Hassidim.
He died in the Treblinka camp with all his descendants!
The remnants of his teachings were gathered by the Alexander Hassidim who had survived the Holocaust and were printed in the book "Akedat Yitzchak".
Condition :Good. Tears with omission on several leaves. Wear. The title page is missing as well as leaf 2.
