Inscriptions, signatures and glosses handwritten by Rabbi Moshe Segal Ha'Levi Hamburger (called "Novomista").
On the forsazt leaf, an inscription and signature: "this book was given to me as a complete gift by my father teacher and rabbi, Avraham Aryeh Segal".
On the title page, his son's signature: "Neta Hirsch Segal" and under it, an inscription: "I have bought from my above son, Moshe Segal".
On leaf 40, the handwritten signature of Rabbi "Moshe Segal of Pressburg". Inside the book, several glosses handwritten by Rabbi Moshe Segal.
On the title page of section B: "this book and its first section I have given as a complete gift to my son Avraham Aryeh Segal of Pressburg Kollel Ungarin".
On the last Forsazt leaf: "I have bought with my money … Avraham Aryeh Segal of Pressburg".
Rabbi Moshe Ha'Levi Hamburger Novomista (1801-1888) was born in Ir Chadash (Novomista). At a young age, he was sent to the yeshiva of the Chatam Sofer in Pressburg. There he was considered one of the best students of the yeshiva. His rabbi, the Chatam Sofer, called him "Moshe Ir Chadasha" - a translation of the name of his hometown, Novomista. He was a beloved student of the Chatam Sofer and was a member of his household. After his wedding, he became known as a Tzaddik.
In 1857 he immigrated to the Land of Israel and lived in Jerusalem.
His third son, Rabbi Neta Hirsch Hamburger, died in 1912.
His fifth son, Rabbi Avraham Aryeh Ha'Levi Hamburger, died in 1918.
