Embossed on the round pin is an image of a man plowing with two oxen, and at the bottom, in Hebrew lettering: “Ha'Chalutz”. On the side of the pin you will find the name of the artist, “S. Krechmer” carved into the pin.

“Ha'Chalutz” was a global young Zionist organization that looked to promote Aliya (immigration) to the Land of Israel. It was founded at a spontaneous gathering in the 1880’s, and it operated up to the Second World War and the Holocaust. “Ha'Chalutz” members, that were friends and members in many other Zionist youth groups, were the forefront of immigration and settling in Israel and of the Jewish resistance against anti-Semitism and the Nazis thru ought Europe and in the Ghettos.

Shmuel Krechmer (1891-1972) was an artist from the art school of “Bezalel” in Jerusalem. Born in Poland, he immigrated to Israel in 1912 and settled in Jerusalem, got accepted to Bezalel school, there he learned drawing and started working as an engraver.

Very good condition.
