Public Warning!

Rabbi Kook: It is forbidden to enter the Temple Mount!

Public Declaration in Hebrew & English by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook Prohibiting the Entry to the Temple Mount. Jerusalem, 1920

“To our dear brothers visiting the city from near and far! Be warned…that it is strictly forbidden…to enter the Temple area… or to ascend the Har-HaBaith… by Rabbi…A.I. Kook”

Hebrew and English announcement intended primarily for international tourists who are unaware of the gravity of the prohibition of entering the Temple Mount. (See Mishpat Kohen Ch. 96 by Harav Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen;)

While compiling the Shaw Report—the Report of the Commission on the Palestine Massacre of August 1929, Harav Avraham Yitzchak Kook was asked if it is permissible for the Jewish People to physically pursue the construction of the Holy Temple before the coming of the Messiah.

Harav Kook’s response: “The Torah’s command is that until the day of the resurrection we are unauthorized to even enter the courtyard of the Holy Temple. I regularly warn the many Jews who come to Jerusalem during the holidays that they may not enter this holy place since we are not worthy to do so until the day of the Redemption. “

Harav Kook’s above statement refers to this public announcement entitled “Public Warning”.

Jerusalem, 1920. Solomon Printing Press. Hebrew and English. Page Size: 47x33 cm. Declaration pasted to cardboard with two metal-ringed holes for hanging. Creases and minor stains.
