Lengthy letter of Torah novellae handwritten by Harav Akiva Hakohen Strasser, Av Beis Din of Tokaj.
Hagaon Harav Akiva Hakohein Strasser, (circa 1860-1924), the son of Harav Yaakov Yehuda Leib Hakohein Strasser, son-in-law of the Ksav Sofer, was Av Beis Din of Takaj.
He studied under the tutelage of his revered grandfather the Ksav Sofer as well as by his uncle the Shevet Sofer, and married the daughter of Maharam Broide, Av Beis Din of Shusburg. Harav Akiva Hakohein Strasser fought valiantly to preserve authentic Torah Judaism, frequently quoting his great-grandfather the Chasam Sofer’s famous motto, “New (Chodosh) is forbidden from the Torah.” Several of his Torah essays and writings were compiled in Toras Avos (Brooklyn, 1990).
