[2] postcards by the holy Rav Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Horowitz. Reisha [Poland]. Before and in the midst of World War II. 1939-1940.


'The intensity of the stresses in these time are indescribable ... may Hashem Yisborach have mercy on his people Beis Yisroel". [2] letters written by Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Horowitz to the USA on 22.06.1939 and under the Nazi Regime in November 1940.  


* [1] postcard, 14X10 cm. By the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Chaim [Yehuda] Horowitz, from Reisha, to the Rabbinic Naggid Rabbi Shimon Steinberg of New York who supported many of the grandsons of the holy Rav the Divrei Chaim of SAnz. Reisha, 22.06.1939. In his letter, Rabbi Horowitz writes about his financial distress  during these hard times and the tuition he must pay for the studies of his son at the Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. Handwritten and signed by him and with his stamp. Hebrew. He ends the letter with many blessings. 

Fold mark, aging stains, good condition. 


* [1] postcard, 14X10 cm. by Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Horowitz, from Reisha, to the holy Rav Rabbi Meir Leifer of Cleveland - Los Angeles. Reisha, Generalgubernman, 11. 1940. Handwritten and signed by him. With Nazi stamps. The postcard was written in German. 

Fold mark, aging stains, blemishes to the corners of the postcard, fair condition. 


The holy Rav Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Horowitz (1880-ca. 1943), the only son of Rabbi Alter Ze'ev Av Beis Din of Strizhov. Was dedicated to public matters and was therefore known as the 'Foreign Minister of Belz'. Perished of hunger during the Holocaust with his family members, while hiding in a basement. His son, Rabbi Klonimus, succeeded his grandfather as Av Beis Din of Strizhov, escaped at the beginning of the war to Lvov, where he was killed on Kiddush Hashem after the Germans conquered Eastern Galicia from the Russians.
