An important and special book in the study of the Hebrew language and the attitude of great Rabbis about the use of it as opposed to other languages. The linguistic information is based on Torah sources and linguistic studies. The author is Shlomo son of Rabbi Ephraim Bloch, from Hanover.
The book is written in German (Gothic), but the introduction, the author's apology and various texts incorporated within the body of the book are in Hebrew and German. The names of the book on the title page is written in Hebrew.
This is an expanded edition, more expansive than the first edition of the book, which was published in 1826 (which is not found at all in libraries in Israel!). In the edition before us, the words "Binyan Shlomo" were added to the book's name, due to its importance this book was later printed in additional editions.
This book is replete with rare information. Biographies of Hebrew language researchers throughout the generations, rare information on dozens of great Rabbis. Also printed here for the first time (from manuscripts) are various documents and descriptions.
XV, 143 pages. 12x18 cm.
Condition: Very Good. Original binding. Age stains. Inscriptions in pencil on the endpapers.
