The author wrote in the introduction "About a new work which has been circulated in our generation named 'Ari Nohem' (by Rabbi Aryeh of Modena)…and loosened tongues and made accusations against the wisdom of the Kabbalah…I came out against him as I received from my master and teacher Menachem Mendel (of Shklov) who drew water from Eliyahu the Vilna Gaon".
The author, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Chaver (1789-1853), third generation to the Vilna Gaon, halachic ruler and Kabbalist, the primary student of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov the student of the Vilna Gaon. Wrote many books in simple explanation and Kabbalah amongst them "Binyan Olam", "Petach She'arim", and commentaries on the writing of the Vilna Gaon and Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov and many more.
