Juda - the First Zionist Drawings of E.M. Lilien - by Börries von Münchhausen, a Pro-Zionist who became an Anti-Semite - Berlin, 1900
Book of poems about the relationship between the Jewish nation and the historical Land of Israel. At the end of the book, a printed illustration (most likely, an ex-Libris) bearing the title "thy stranger within thy gates Börries von Münchhausen". This was before Münchhausen became an anti-Semite and Nazi-supporter.
The book is written in Gothic German.
The book, its binding and title pages were all illustrated by E.M. Lillien. Among others, the book contains the well-known illustration of a Jew in Egypt beside the pyramids, lokking towards Zion. These are the first Zionist illustrations by Lillien that have been published.
Condition: Good. The spine is missing. Detached leaves; however, they are complete and nice.
