Letter with Important Content Against General Meetings of Rabbis and Public leaders Signed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe - 1967
Letter by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in which he reveals his attitude against general meetings of rabbis. He notes that this was the attitude of the most prominent rabbis of the previous generation.
The Rebbe writes: "I must add, based on the attitude of the most prominent rabbis of the previous generation, that my opinion is clear - any meeting which has the nature of a worldwide gathering of rabbis and leaders, wherever it takes place, involves great danger to the religion, Torah and Mitzvot of the Jewish people wherever they are … all the greatest rabbis of the previous generation objected to such gatherings that even when these gatherings were ordered by the government of certain countries such as Russia … they were perceived as a severe decree…"
A rare letter!
The letter is hand-signed by the Rebbe. With two corrections in his handwriting.
