Typewritten letter on an official postcard of the Rebbe Rabbi Elazar Ha'Levi Rosenfeld. Jerusalem.
In the letter, the Rebbe turns to his friends and tells them that during his old age, his financial condition is very bad and he therefore asks their help in supporting him as they had helped when he was abroad.
A rare, historical letter.
Rabbi Elazar Ha'Levi Rosenfeld, a Galician Rebbe and Rabbi, of the Kamianka Hassidic dynasty, the son-in-law of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz, author of the "Divrei Chaim". In 1897, he became a rabbi in Kamianka and in 1907 he became the rabbi of Auschwitz. In 1936, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and settled in Safed. In 1937, he moved to Jerusalem and founded a synagogue, which is active to this day. In 1939, he returned to Poland for health reasons. He was killed in Sosnowitz with nine of his children on the 7th of Av 1943.
