An original photograph of a printed form on which is a blessing to Rabbi Meir Shapira on the occasion of his birthday, on 7 Adar 1931, signed in the handwriting of about 100 of his students in the Yeshiva.
"To our master, teacher and Rabbi, our beloved educator…the day that you – our master – were presented by Divine Providence on Earth, awakens within us tremendous excitement, our souls which are bound to your soul with golden threads, whisper thanks to you".
Rabbi Yehuda Meir Shapira (1887-1934), one of the Rabbis of Polish Jewry and one of the heads of "Agudat Yisrael", founder and Rosh Yeshiva of Chochmei Lublin Yeshiva and the innovator of the Daf Yomi.
On the form of blessing, which is seen in the photograph, are the signatures of several of his students who served as Rabbis and halachic rulers: Rabbi Pinchas Hirschprung, the Rabbi of Montreal; Rabbi Chaim Kreiswirth, the Rabbi of Antwerp; Rabbi Shmuel Wosner, and approximately one hundred other students.
