Touching Letter from the Stropkov Community - Recommendation for a Member of the Community who Immigrated to The Land of Israel - 1888
Letter from "Kehal Adat Yeshurun De'Kehilat Kodesh Stropkov" to the rabbis and leaders of Kollel Ungarin in Jerusalem. 1888.
In the letter, the heads of the community ask the heads of the Kollel to help Rabbi Meir Gottlieb, a member of the Stropkov community and the grandson of the former rabbi of the town, Rabbi Chaim Yosef Gottlieb. They say that Rabbi Yisrael Meir immigrated to the Land of Israel "to the holy land of Petach Tikvah" and he is in need of monetary support. "It has been a long time since a member of our community has gone to live in the Holy Land, therefore we have come to pour our hearts out…"
At the margins of the letter, the signature of rabbi Zvi Hirsch Friedman, on eof the heads of the community, and the stamp of the community.
Condition: Good. Slits and tears.
