A Letter from the Rebbe Rayatz to Rabbi Ben Zion Chai Uziel - With a Special Signature Approximately a Year Before his Death and an Addition in his Handwriting - A Rare Letter of this Type
A letter from the Rebbe Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch, the Rebbe Rayatz of Chabad, to Rabbi Ben Zion Meir Chai Uziel, the Chief Rabbi of Israel. Brooklyn, December 22, 1948.
A long letter of recommendation for Rabbi Shlomo Cohen.
With an addition in his handwriting: "And I bless him in physicality and spirituality, Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn".
In the signature before us are two differences from his regular signature: the letter Yud of the word Yitzchak is in block script; and his entire surname (Schneersohn) is written, in variation from the rest of his letters, in which the Rebbe did not sign with his surname.
From the writing and the signature, it is clear that writing was difficult for the Rebbe in his old age.
Condition: Excellent.
