a. A humorous composition based on the Hashkava Prayer (prayer for the dead).
All the words of the regular Hashkava Prayer were replaced by similar words whose meaning is the destruction of Haman. The "prayer" also wishes that Haman, in his dwelling in Hell, be accompanied by Abdel Nasser and all other Jew-haters.
During the 1960's, Abdel Nasser, the President of Egypt, became one of the most popular figures in the Arab world and had thousands of admirers. His speeches were full of hatred for Israel. To a large extent, he was simultaneously a symbol of two things: the current Jew-hater, the follower of Haman and Hitler, on the one hand, and a grotesque figure on the other. On one hand, people feared him and his hatred for Israel; on the other hand, he became the object of many comic songs and jokes, which emphasized his boastfulness and empty speeches and the Israeli confidence in his eventual fall.
Many songs, which were sung by children and adults alike, were altered so that Nasser became their laughingstock.
b. "Masechet Purim from the Drunkards Talmud" (a comic work in the style of the Talmud), with "Hagadah for the night of Drunkenness", and Selichot for Purim. Warsaw, 1885.
24 leaves.
