Interesting Letter by the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yitzchak Braver Av Beit Din of Sioux City, Iowa, a Peek into the Activity of the Gabaim of the Holy Land - Sioux City, 1930

"ויתפללו עבור הגבאים שיתן ה' כח לעסוק עבור מלאכת הקודש" (May they pray for the Gabaim that Hashem give them strength...) rare and interesting letter by the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yitzchak Braver who was Av Beit Din of Sioux City, Iowa, with interesting details about the Ramban Charity Fund - Sioux City, 1930.

In the letter, Rabbeinu writes that he is sending the Ramban Charity Fund the amount of $861 (a huge amount! in those days, and especially from Iowa, which was then considered in the middle of nowhere). Rabbeinu details the list of institutions he wishes the money donated by his community be given to. At the end of his letter, Rabbeinu asks to pray for him and the Gabaim at the holy places. One should read his exact words expressing the warm feelings the members of the Diaspora had towards Eretz Yisrael and its residents: "אבקש מכבודם שיתפללו עבורי ובעד קהל המתנדבים אצל כותל מערבי ואצל קבר רחל ויתפללו עבור הגבאים שיתן ה' כח לעסוק עבור מלאכת הקודש בעדכם ובפרט להגבאי ר' משה סילברבערג אשר הוא העיקר העסקן...".

The letter is signed by Rabbeinu and by the Gabaim Rabbi Moshe Silverberg and Rabbi Eliyahu Hillel ben Zalman Dov Tzernyovsky.
