The Kibbutzim polomic, Jerusalem/Meron
Background:
When the number of Breslov Chassidim in Israel grew and most of them were living in Jerusalem, the Kibbutz of Rosh Hashana began taking place in Jerusalem, especially since it was impossible to travel to Uman.
Several years after Rabbi Avraham Sternhertz immigrated to Israel (he immigrated in 1936), he claimed that the Hitkabtzut should take place near a Tzaddik and if it was impossible to travel to Uman, there was no better place than the gravesite of Rashbi. Indeed, since 1941, the Kibbutz took place there.
The issue led to a bitter dispute, with Chassidim and Kuntresim supporting both opinions.
Actually, the matter was settled only when it was again possible to travel to Uman (and was reawakened in the year of the COVID outbreak).
The Kuntres discusses the question of whether the Kibutz should take place with as many people as possible (therefore, if most of the Chassidim live in Jerusalem, it should take place there) or near the grave of a Tzaddik.
The Kuntres edns with a decisive conclusion: "ע"כ כל מי שנקרא על שמו ז"ל ויש לו שייכות אליו בתמימות ובפשיטות, צריך לעלות לירושלים עיה"ק... לבוא אל הביה"כ שנקרא על שם רבינו ז"ל ולהתפלל עם כלל הקיבוץ בר"ה הק' ברננה ולזכות לכל התיקונים כמבואר בספריו הק' ועי"ז נזכה לשמוח במהרה עם ביאת המשיח צדקינו ולהשתטח על קברו ז"ל ובבנין ביהמ"ק בב"א".
