Rare, not listed in bibliographic sources: HaMaggid, fourth section (Trei Asar and more). Printed by Rabbi Moshe Shapira, Slavita 1820.

Sefer HaMaggid from the last books of prophets (Twelve Minor Prophets, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles), fourth section, with Rashi’s commentary and Taamei HaMikra…with a Yiddish commentary copied into the spoken language…printed in Slavita with the Riga censor’s approval, in 1820, by Rabbi Moshe Shapira.

Based on the Mifal Bibliographia (where only part 1 of this edition is listed): “This edition’s “Yiddish commentary” (a translation/commentary of the Maggid, based on that of Rabbi Yaakov Rabbeinu) is completely different from the earlier editions in its content and form. This is practically a new translation, with an entirely different vocabulary and sentence structure from prior editions (which largely utilized the same format). The translation here is also printed with block letters, whereas prior editions used the traditional “Deutsch” Ashkenazi lettering of tze’ina u’reina. On the back of the title page is a censor’s approval (6 May 1819), as in the 1819-1820 edition.

We did not find a similar copy in various libraries and it is not listed in bibliographical databases. [1], 92, 74, 50 leaves. Worming damage in the margins of most pages, in a number of places it affects the text. Original defective binding with worming holes. Overall poor to fair condition.
