Collection of letters and handwriting from gedolei Yisrael of the 18th century onward
Binder filled with dozens of handwritten pages on a variety of issues from talmidei chachamim:
1. Halachic note written in the margins of a book (torn out), probably by Rabbi Mendele of Desh, son of the Admor Mareh Yehezkel. - Rabbi Menachem Mendel (1818-1885) was a student of the Chacham Sofer and the Yismach Moshe, he founded the Desh Chassidus and was Rabbi of the town. He wrote the Shut book Avnei Tzedek on the Even HaEzer, the Avnei Mishpat on the Choshen Mishpat, Shaarei Tzedek on the Orech Chaim, and the Shaarei Tzedek on the Yoreh De’ah, and also wrote the Maagalei Tzedek on the Torah (two sections)
2. Copy of the beginning of the Will of Rabbi Pinchas Michael of Antipole, author of the Drashot Rapam. From when he travelled to Berlin for medical reasons.
3. Chiddushei Torah on parshiyot Shlach and Chukat, 4 large pages filled with a cramped handwriting. At the top of the page is a small note which reveals a tiny bit about the author of the writing: “Sent to Atiniya to receive the approbation. Who is the sender??? Maybe my son Viznitza!”
4. Certificate of hasmacha for shechita, Yemenite writing, with Yemenite signatures. Student Yuda N. Salam, written in Aden.
5. Early kabbalah of the Chatam Sofer yeshiva in Tzfat. On the back are stamps: “Beit Knesset of Z. Sacks, Tel Aviv, ” with signature “Zeev Sacks”.
6. Blank first leaf with handwritten dedication and signature of “Avraham Yaakov Kestenbaum”, with the title “Morenu” for Rabbi Shmuel Shmelki.”
7. Stamp of the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Pashkan on a raffle ticket for the Mifal HaPayis, 1960
8. Note handwritten about the actions of an Admor at the Hanover train station, from a chassid who wrote it down for memorial purposes. Not known which Admor or the author
9. Leaf of chiddushei Torah handwritten, early note. On a kushiya of the Maharsha on laws of Pat Chama and a Chavit Petucha and Dinei Ta’arovet and Chametz and more.
10. Leaf handwritten on the subject of the “Chiuv to Study Chochmat Emet”, probably Rabbi Feivush, a Shoel u’Bodek in Tzfat.
11. Letter from Rabbi Chaim Yisrael Gottstein, a shoel u’bodek in Pittsburgh (USA), addressed to Rabbi Shmuel Heller. From 1912.
12. Leaf handwritten with Chiddushei Torah on the korban Shnei HaLechem. At the beginning notes: “And in my Chiddushei Agadah I wrote to interpret…”
13. Original postcard from Mishkoltz, with official stamp. With a letter with faded handwriting, above which are calculations.
14. Letter with Chiddushei Torah from a dear son to a loving father. At the beginning he gives many titles to his father. 4 large written pages.
15. Early Chiddushei Torah handwritten, on kiddushei Biya in a few different methods, and the kashrut of the offspring. 4 written pages.
16. Antique daf of chiddushei Torah, on zechiya, chaluka, and yerusha. 3 written pages. Tape on the first leaf, creases.
17. 2 leaves of antique chiddushei Torah, on Masechet Beitzah (first chapter), 4 written pages.
18. “Divrei Aggadah L’Yisrael”—an antique note, a pretty explanation of the question of the wise son in the Pesach Haggadah, and the father’s answer. Large leaf written on both sides.
19. Letter from rabbis and administrators of the Klalit yeshiva and Talmud torah, from 1928. Handwritten by the gabbay Eli Issachar Lier(/b)liech from L(en)iska(?). With names of donors and a request to daven for them and send them receipts. With a stamp of the Chatam Sofer institutions from Tzfat.
20. Antique Chiddushei Torah, on the Torah and Psalms, by “Am”ur Av Beit Din of Werfelet”—perhaps referring to Rabbi Yehoshua Katz, author of the Shut Mahari Katz. 4 written pages and more on bits of pages.
21. Note in Yiddish, perhaps written to a dear son. 1897. Leaf cut in half.
22. Leaf of chiddushei torah, “besiyata d’shamya chai al m”s b”m 2nd chapter”. Written on two sides, seems to have been torn from a notebook.
23. Poster, kol koreh from Tzfat, 1912. On the back are handwritten history chapters of the Jewish people
24. Blank first leaf with the signature “Yisrael Kahane”

The material was not checked thoroughly, various conditions, the manuscript pages have wear and stains, some have faded over the years, mostly in good condition.
