Shoresh Yishai by Rabbi Shlomo HaLevi Elkabetz, Kushta 1561. Handwritten signature of Rabbeinu Yechiya bar Yosef Kara. First edition with notes and handwritten vowelling. Rare.
Long commentary on the Megillat Ruth, with commentaries on the Zohar and mysticism. By the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo HaLevi Elkabetz, compiler of the known piyyut Lecha Dodi from the Golden Age of the sages of Tzfat. (Winograd Kushta 221). At the end of the introduction is the handwritten signature of Rabbeinu Yechiya bar Yosef Kara, a sage of chassidut, beloved of all creation, a shochet and professional examiner, helped his brother the Ra’avad in everything related to the rabbinate. In Even Sapir by Rabbi Yaakov Sapir, he is written about that “he is the greatest Jew in all of Yemen, a man full of Torah and wisdom and awe of G-d.” In the book there are many handwritten notes, the authorship of the notes and the content were not checked. Books by Rabbeinu Shlomo HaLevi Elkabetz are very rare. 96 page. 20cm. Thick paper, no cover, not bound, 3 first pages and last page are disconnected, moth marks on the last pages of the book, stains, generally good to very good condition.
