Machzor Shaar Bat Rabim – Venice, 1711-1714 – Part I

Machzor Shaar Bat Rabim, Part I – prayers for weekdays, Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh and Festivals, "following the rite of the Ashkenazi community", with the Hadrat Kodesh commentary, by R. Yitzchak son of R. Yaakov Yosef HaLevi. Venice: Bragadin, [1711-1714]. Engraved title page.
This elaborate machzor was published at the initiative of the Italian communities, who undertook to buy the printed copies. The machzor was printed and sold in individual gatherings. The present copy comprises part I in its entirety.
360 leaves. 35.5 cm. Light-colored, thick, high-quality paper. Most leaves in good condition. Stains. Marginal tears to several leaves. Endpaper stuck to title page border (minor damage to engraved border). Some leaves of Tisha B'Av lamentations with significant dampness damage, mold stains, wax stains and tears, affecting text. New binding, partially detached.
