Manuscript, Commentary on the Torah by Rabbi Ya'akov Ben Ha'Rosh, Ba'al Haturim - [Kaukaban] Yemen 1625 - Comments and Novellae on the Margins of the Leaves
Rare!
Manuscript, commentary on the Torah by Ba'al Ha'Turim. Yemen script, Kaukaban 1625.
With a colophon of the year of writing and the writer's name: "and it has been completed on Thursday the 26th of Tamuz … Kaukaban … the writer … David Berav … Elaziri"
Throughout the manuscript, footnotes of novellae adapted from books by the Rishonim and from different Midrashim.
The manuscript lacks its beginning and begins with Parashat Vayera until the end of the Pentateuch. The last page contains novellae from the Zohar and Ba'al Ha'Krovot.
Yemen manuscripts from the early 17th century are rare. The version of the manuscript before us is similar to the version of Ba'al Ha'Turim on the Tprah which was printed in Constantinople in 1514 with lingual differences.
[165] pp. two columns per page. 20.5 cm.
Condition: Good-Fair. Damaged margins. Time stains, with damage to text. Moth holes. New, impressive binding.
