Sefer Yesod!
The sefer that established the practice of Day-to-Day daily Jewish life!
Beis Yosef Orach Chaim. First Edition. Venice, 1550

Tur Orach Chaim by Rabbi Yaakov son of the Rosh, bordered by the commentary of the Beis Yosef by Rabbi Yosef Karo. This first edition bais Yosef was published by the author himself!

Bais Yosef - Orach Chaim, which encompasses all halachos applicable to daily life, was the first work of Rabbi Yosef Karo to ever be printed, and it is also the most commonly used volume for its practical applications.

Orach Chaim establishes the halachos governing the day-to-day life of a Jew.

Rabbi Yosef Karo’s (1488-1575) Beis Yosef super commentary established the foundations of halachah for all generations. In his monumental work, he compiled sources of all halachos and rulings of the Poskim, along with the debates among the Rishonim, and according to his conclusions in the Bais Yosef he determined the halachic ruling in the Shulchan Aruch.

Rabbi Yosef Karo authored his magnum opus over the course of 20 years, and then devoted approximately 12 more years to edit and prepare it for print. He named his work Beis Yosef at the instruction of the Maggid, an angel that visited him and taught him Torah. [See Maggid Meisharim, Vezos Habrachah.

“And it spread throughout all of Yisrael, finding favor and acclaim in the eyes of all who saw it. And all the wise men and Rabbis exalted it and placed it as a crown on their heads, and elevated it above all the sefarim that preceded it…Our eyes see that anyone who delves into it, determines and teaches the law from it, and does not lift a hand to decree the law or teach the straight path without it…”(kneset HaGdola)

Large thick volume.
Complete and intact copy with all index pages printed in the beginning (“Pirtei Remazei Tur Orach Chaim” and “Remazei Hadinim Hamechudashim Hanirmazim B’biur…Beis Yosef”).

The last leaf contains a large printer’s emblem of Marco Antonio Giustiniani.

Venice [1550]. First Edition. 24, 459, [1] leaves. Page size: 35 cm. Professional restoration of title page margins and of approximately 50 first pages. Light water stains, primarily in margins.  new leather binding.

Additional Information: On the margins of the sefer there are many haggaos written during the time of the printing in Sephardic Rabbinical handwriting .These haggaos are of similar character to those found in the sefer Bedek Habayis by Rabbi Yosef Karo which entails corrections and supplements to the Beis Yosef. Some of the annotations are cropped at the margins.
