Safra D’Tzniusa with Vilna Gaon’s Commentary. First Edition. Vilna-Horodna, 1820

Safra D'Tzniusa, which is attributed to have been authored by Yaakov Avinu is described as the “Foundation to all the teachings of the holy Zohar” with “a broad commentary of every essay and essay, and practically each and every word” by Hagaon Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna, the Vilna Gaon.

This work was edited and prepared for print by Rabbi Yaakov Moshe of Slonim, son of Rabbi Avraham ben HaGr”a, and features approbations by eminent Rabbanim of Vilna who asserted that he is the only individual authorized to publish the writings of the Gr”a.
The Radal highly commended Rabbi Yaakov Moshe of Slonim’s publication and editing of Safra D'Tzniusa and inscirbed, “This is a singular work of the Vilna Gaon works that is praiseworthy, for it its arranged and collected precisely, with each section in its proper place” (Aliyos Eliyahu, Aliyas Kir, Ch. 38).

The sefer begins with the lengthy, famous foreword by the Vilna Gaon’s prime disciple Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin. This preface is the foremost important description of the Vilna Gaon, his holiness and path in the wisdom of kabbalah.

Vilna-Horodna, 1820. First Edition. Page Count: [6], 59, [3] leaves. Page size: 23 cm. Wide margins.

Bibliography: Stefansky Sifrei Yesod #334; Winograd, Otzar Sifrei HaGr”a #696
