Handwritten & Autographed Semichah by the ‎Admor Rabbi Elimelech of Tosh. Nyírtass, 1932‎

Rare handwritten, autographed and stamped ordination letter for a shochet and bodek in the ‎holy hand of the Admor and miracle-worker, Rabbi Elimelech Segal-Loewy of Tosh.‎

The Admor Rabbi Elimelech Segal-Loewy of Tosh (1865-1943) was renowned as a ‎miracle-worker and revered for his great piety and sanctity. The son of the Admor Rabbi ‎Meshulam Feish Halevi of Tosh, the first Admor of the Tosh dynasty, he married the ‎daughter of Rabbi Yitzchak Eisik Weiss, Av Beis Din of Sveliava. Rabbi Elimelech was born ‎to his parents at a later stage in their lives. His father traveled to Lizhensk to pray at the tomb of ‎the legendary Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk that he be blessed with a son, upon fulfillment of the tefilla, he named him after Rabbi Elimelech. When Rabbi Elimelech was a young child, his father would fondly call him “the Rebbe Rabbi Elimelech”. Rabbi Meshulam Feish passed away several years later, leaving his son a young orphan; he was raised by his brother-in-law the Admor of ‎Kasani, author of Bnei Shileshim. As he matured, Rabbi Elimelech became a close disciple ‎of the Yitev Lev of Satmar, the Admor Rabbi Elazar Tzvi of Komarno, and the Admor Rabbi ‎Tzvi Elimelech of Bluzhov. His grandson was the Admor Rabbi Meshulam Feish Loewy of ‎Tosh-Canada Zt”l who passed away recently.‎

Nyírtass (Tosh), 1932. Handwritten, autographed and stamped. Page Size: 21x17 cm. ‎Condition: Dark stain in center of leaf (remnant of tape), yet all text is intact.‎

Excerpt:
‎“Behold this exceptional gentleman appeared before me…and requested that I test and question him on the laws of shechita and bedikos, and I consented to his request. I ‎tested him, and he passed the test… For I spoke to him at length regarding the laws of shechita and bedikos, and I saw that he is fluent and can properly recite all laws of ‎shechitah and bedikah by heart as explained by the S[imlah] Ch[adashah] in the optimal way.‎

‎“He also showed me his knife, which I found to be in good condition, smooth and sharp… I ‎also damaged his knife, and he felt the slight defect and immediately repaired it in little time… ‎Permission is hereby granted to him to become a shochet and bodek in all Jewish cities… in the ‎place where he is accepted with permission from the local Rabbi and Av Beis Din…providing ‎that he reviews his studies constantly.”
