Siddur with Beis Rachel and Shaar Hallel Ka by the Semichas Chachamim. Rare First  Edition. Amsterdam, 1741

Rare siddur brought to print by the grandchildren of the Semichas Chachamim and Shl”a Hakadosh!

Siddur in Ashkenazic-Polish right with kabbalistic prayers. The siddur includes the sefer Beis Rachel and Shaar Hallel Ka, a book of prayers, entreaties, zemiros, confessions and Tikkunim for the whole year by Rabbi Naftali Katz, Av Beis Din of Posen and Frankfurt and author of the Semichas Chachamim. Including Sefer Thillim with a separate title page.

Published by the Semichas Chachamim’s grandson Rabbi Shimshon Katz and the Shl”a Hakadosh’s grandson Rabbi Gavriel of Posen. Throughout the past centuries, the sefer Beis Rachel was printed in numerous editions, both independently and as an appendix to many siddurim: This first edition of Sefer Bais Rachel is exceedingly rare.

Rabbi Naftali Katz (1650-1719), Av Beis Din of Posen and Frankfurt and author of Semichas Chachamim, was a saintly kabbalist whom the Chida describes as “A wondrous kabbalist in practical kabbalah and G-dly kabbalah”. He was a tzaddik and miracle-worker, and countless stories were told about his piety and the wonders he enacted.

The present siddur is an important work, replete with halachos and commentary, as well as many other additions. The siddur was edited following the text of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Henna’s siddur, and includes prayers from Shaarei Tzion as well as kabbalistic prayers from the Arizal. It also includes a Tehillim and Pirkei Avos with commentary, all edited by the publishers, the righteous and scholarly grandchildren of the Semichas Chachamim and Shl”a Hakadosh.

Amsterdam, 1741. First edition. Page Count: [6], 400, 90: 16 leaves. Condition: Several pages have signs of wear; one leaf has minor tear affecting text. Separate title page for Tehillim.
