This Tehillim is “precisely edited…based on tradition and ancient proofread manuscripts”.

 Prepared for print by Reb Wolf Heidenheim, renown scholar who was an expert in Hebrew grammar and invested tremendously to publish the tanach in its greatest accuracy, He established the famous press in Rodelheim where he published many seforim, siddurim machzorim which became the standard siddur especially for the Jewish community of Germany.

 A copy of Shimush Tehillim appears at the end.

Two essays by Heidenheim appear in the beginning of the sefer: “The count of chapters of Tehillim according to the tradition of the Sages” and ”on the Te'amim (cantillation) of the books of Iyov, Mishlei and Tehillim whose initials spell ‘Emes’”.

Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim (1757-1832)

Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim was among the most famous masters of lashon hakodesh and dikduk and authored a fascinating commentary on many piyyutim. He founded a publishing house in Rödelheim, which was then on the outskirts of Frankfurt, and published Chumashim, machzorim, siddurim and Haggados , while painstakingly ensuring maximal accuracy and precision in printing.

Gedolei Yisrael across the board, among them the Chasam Sofer, commended Heidenheim’s efforts. The Chasam Sofer mentions Heidenheim on many occasions, and once wrote, “If not for him, piyyutim would have surely been forgotten and no longer recited in our generation” (Shu”t Chasam Sofer, Choshen Mishpat Ch. 79)
