Passover Haggadah with Artistic Copper Engravings and Map of Eretz Yisrael. Amsterdam, 1810

Haggadas Maalah Beis Chorin. Amsterdam, 1810

Magnificent original binding!

The illustrated Amsterdam Haggadahs are among the most magnificent Jewish printed works and served as inspiration for many later editions. The unique copper engravings were crafted by the Jewish artisan Avraham bar Yaakov Hager and printed for the first time in Amsterdam, 1695. These were reprinted later in other Amsterdam editions.
This Haggadah features commentaries by the Alshich, Maharal of Prague and Kli Yakar, as well as laws pertaining to Pesach and koshering vessels with German translation.

12 copper engraved illustrations spanning a half-page each, with a map depicting the wanderings of the Jews throughout the Wilderness and portioning of the Land.

Amsterdam, 1810. [2], 9, 50 leaves. [1] folded extra-large leaf (map). 26 cm. Illustrated pre-title page; original antique restored leather binding with a new spine, the inner flap of the binding contains an enclosure to store the folded map. Wine stains on the first ten pages.
